Tunis: Tunisian Foreign Affairs Minister Abdelwaheb Abdallah highlighted, on the occasion of his meeting with a delegation from the United States House of Representatives, Tunisia’s support for new American administration in its search to establish a just and lasting peace in the Middle East on the basis of international legality and the two-state solution. The foreign minister said Tunisia is a country of dialogue, co-operation and openness on the world, while assuming fully its Arab, African and Mediterranean vocation.
He said that the long-standing relations of friendship and respect binding the two countries, expressing Tunisia’s sincerity to develop and strengthen these relations, which he described as “strong and strategic at all levels,” all the more so that Tunisia and the United States share the same values of peace, freedom and democracy. For his part, the head of the American congressional delegation said that Tunisia is for the United States a key country in the region and that the two countries are called to combine their efforts in the service of peace in the Middle East."
