Tunisia and Saudi Arabia start cooperation in farming sector: "06 April 2010
Tunisia and Saudi Arabia recently agreed to implement a program of co-operation in the sector of farming.

A schedule and follow-up mechanisms were adopted, during a working session held as part of the visit of Mr. Abdessalem Mansour, Minister of Farming, Water Resources and Fishing, in Saudi Arabia from April 2 to 6, 2010.

Mr. Abdessalem Mansour agreed with Saudi Agriculture Minister Fahd Belghim to take advantage of the two countries' experiences in terms of water desalination and utilization of treated water for irrigation.

The aim is to establish co-operation and twinning operations between both countries' centers of research in the sectors of palm tree planting, date packaging, fishing and fish farming.

The two ministers also decided to organize Tunisian-Saudi partnership seminars in Tunisia during which the investment opportunities provided in the sectors of farming, food industries, fish farming and fishing in addition to the exchange of expertise in olive oil production, cereal growing and fodder, will be presented."
