“The Future of the Global Fund” (editorial, Oct. 15) doesn’t highlight an important milestone. Despite the difficult economic climate, for the first time African nations and private-sector partners have made significant commitments to the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

These new pledges from African nations, including Nigeria, South Africa, Namibia and Tunisia, and support from the African private sector through the “Gift From Africa” campaign prove that Africa’s government and corporate leaders recognize the importance of the Global Fund and its potential to improve the health of Africa’s citizens."
